Mario Balotelli aims to return to England for Euro 2020 after signing for his hometown club Brescia. The former Manchester City and Liverpool forward said that he was back in Series A to get his place in Roberto Mancini’s Italy squad. He was recalled after four years without national service last year. Balotelli, who just recently turned down a move to Flamengo to sign a three-year contract in Brazil said, “I am absolutely targeting a place in the Italy squad for Euro 2020.’
He said that he spoke to Roberto Mancini when he wished him on his birthday and also said, “Brescia is my home town, so it can give me much more confidence and values than the other places, just as I hope to give Brescia far more than I could anywhere else.”
12 countries will be participating for the Euro 2020 Cup. The final will be played in Wembley. Mario was born in Palermo to African-descent parents and was fostered by Silvia and Francesco Balotelli in Brescia from the age of 3 onwards. Francesco died just recently but the 29-year-old said, “My mother cried when I told her I had the possibility of coming to Brescia, I asked her what she thought and she was just crying. She’s very happy for me and for my move to Brescia.”

Former Milan and Inter striker, Balotelli has been the victim of racist abuse in Italy but he said that he truly hopes that the incident that took place many years ago doesn’t happen again as they are not just wrong for the sport but for humanity as well. Balotelli has made 36 appearances for Italy, scoring 14 times, and has bagged a win against England in the group stages of World Cup 2014. Mario is a fan favourite footballer who rescued his club career nicely, performing very well and consistently under Lucien Favre. He was even rumoured to be in BVB’s wishlist. Mario will always be remembered for his crazy persona and care-free attitude along with his Muscle flex celebration that he did in the World Cup.
