Liverpool V. PSG followed up that thriller with an entertaining match of their own. A 5 goal fest match saw Liverpool just edge past their French opponents with a late winner from striker Roberto Firmino. Finding themselves back on level terms after leading 2-0 in the match, Liverpool finally took home the three points with a delicious goal from substitute Firmino who started the match on the bench owing to an eye injury. The talking point of the matchday has to be Cristiano Ronaldo’s debut for Juventus. The striker, who has dominated the champions league over the years, helping his old club Real Madrid to three consecutive titles, was given a questionable straight red in the opening moments of the first half. A disbelieving Ronaldo was left shattered as he walked off shattered, the tears pouring down his face incessantly to show the kind of hunger he possesses for the tournament. Despite the red, Juventus went home comfortable winners after they were awarded three penalties on the night against Valencia, with Pjanic converting two of them to help his side win 2-0.

In another stunning result, Lyon silenced the Etihad with their superb counter-attacking football that rooted Manchester City to a 2-1 defeat. The loss meant that City has for the first time in their history lost four back to back champions league matches, all with a scoreline of 2-1.
