Matthijs de Ligt – The 19-year-old dutch defender, Matthijs de Ligt is a young prospect that every team wants to have in their own squad. De Ligt made his name playing at the legendary European club, Ajax FC. Ajax won the Eredivisie while also making a deep UCL run in which they got defeated by Tottenham Hotspurs in the semi-finals. After a heroic Lucas Moura performance in which he scored a hattrick. De Ligt was the leader of the Dutch club. He lead the defence and was the main man responsible to hold the other team’s offence. At just 19 years of age, De Ligt captained his side that played one of the most attractive and impressive football in Europe.

De Ligt in his postseason celebration said that they wanted to make “ Johan Cryuff” proud with the brand of football they play. He has scored 8 goals and assisted 5 times in the 77 games he has played in the dutch league. These numbers are very good considering, he is a center back. His impressive performances at such a young age make him a highly valuable prospect for all of the major clubs in football. Matthijs de Ligt was wanted by clubs like PSG, Manchester United, Manchester City etc. According to rumours, De Ligt made his move to the old lady after Cristiano Ronaldo persuaded him to come to Turin.

There are several reasons for him to come to Juventus as he will get exposure under legendary players and defenders like Chiellini and Bonucci, that can help him develop with the vast experience they have. He will also get a shot at winning the Serie A and with players like Ronaldo and Dybala in the squad, Juventus will also be a key contender to win the UEFA Champions League in the coming seasons. Juventus has signed the 6-foot 2-inch defender for an amount of  £67.5m that can increase with add ons, the transfer is likely to be for a long term of at least 4 years. The dutch will be earning €7.5 million a year from wages alone not counting the sponsored deals.
