History behind Mother’s Day and Its Significance
Mothers Day History – This year mother’s day will be celebrated on 9th May. The history of mother’s day reveals that this day is celebrated on the second Sunday of May every year. This day is chosen to pay respect to one of the most important people in our lives – our mothers. It celebrates the bond between the mother and her children. A mother plays many important roles in a kid’s life, from being a parent to being a friend, teacher, guide them the right path and always being there for them.

Now, let’s talk about how Mother’s Day celebration started. This day was first celebrated in 1908 when Anna Jarvis held a memorial for her mother at St Andrew’s Methodist Church in Grafton, West Virginia. Although her mother passed away in 1905, she started this campaign to recognize Mother’s Day in the US. This eventually led to the US observing this day as a holiday to show gratitude to their mothers by 1911. Then in 1914, Woodrow Wilson signed a proclamation designating the second Sunday in the month of May as a national holiday.

It is not hard to guess the importance of this day. Children try to make this the best day for their mothers. There is no denying that mothers sacrifice a lot to raise their children. Mother’s Day is a special day celebrated to honor the contribution and selfless love of a mother.
