Col. Shankar was Dhoni’s army associate and went to become of his closest friends. Col. Shankar has gone on to understand the Dhoni enigma better than most.

Gilchrist’s respect for Dhoni is also evident from his reply that he would also pay to watch Dhoni play. Gilchrist has also said that MSD was not the next Gilchrist, rather he was the first MS Dhoni.
