Russia-Ukraine Conflict

Ukraine has been wanting to become a part of NATO for a while but Russia sees it as an expansion towards its borders. Hence, Russia does not want Ukraine to become a NATO member. The conflict has been going on since 2014 when the then Ukrainian president wanted to sever European ties and alliance with Russia. It led to the President being overthrown and Russia annexing Crimea in Eastern Ukraine.

NATO has been deploying troops in Eastern European countries since then to defend against Russia. However, on 24th February 2022 morning, Russian President Vladimir Putin declared a special military attack on Ukraine.

A NATO meeting has been convened to strategize a plan to protect and defend Ukraine from the Russian forces.
