Navdeep Saini who recently featured in the T20 International series against West Indies will be kept as a backup pacer for the test series.
The team management has asked Saini to stay. The team management is keen to have young Saini as their net bowler for the test series. This will be a wonderful opportunity for the 26-year-old pacer to groom his future.
Saini was also sent to England for the 2019 world cup as the cover for pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar. Saini impressed one and all with his pace and had a fine debut against West Indies in the 1st T20 International at Lauderhill. He bagged 3 wickets and gave away only 17 runs. This impressive performance earned him Man of the Match award in his debut game.

The Team management confirmed that Saini will stay back for the test matches. First, he will be the net bowler which will help him to groom in the red-ball format.
BCCI official said that Saini has been performing with the red ball for the past few years. Navdeep Saini can bowl with an accurate pace and line. He is a hit to deck hard bowler who can swing the ball both ways. If Saini grooms well than it will benefit India with a good pool of quality fast bowlers for International cricket.
India’s bowling coach Bharat Arun will also be a great help to Saini. This will allow Arun to invest more time in Delhi pacer to polish his skills. Bharat Arun has done remarkably well for India’s fast bowling unit. He has done the best to emerge the young pacers in rather. Now Saini will need to be around the International cricket scenario. That will allow him to learn the tricks and trade of the next level.
