Navjot Singh Sidhu Joins Indian National Congress
After months of speculations following Navjot Singh’s renunciation on BJP in September 2016, He finally declares of joining Congress.
The decision of joining the main Opposition party congress came one month before fresh elections that are to be held for Punjab State legislature.
Sidhu, 58, a former cricketer and TV commentator, was inducted in Congress after a meeting with party Vice President Rahul Gandhi who welcomed him into the party.
Soon after joining the Congres, Sidhu Tweeted, “Beginning of a new inning. On the front foot…….. Punjab, Punjabiyat and every Punjabi must win!!!”
When Sidhu quit BJP in September 2016, he had at that time alleged that he was forced to surrender his parliamentary seat of Amritsar to make way for Finance Minister Arun Jaitley who eventually lost the constituency in 2014 general elections.
