A few days ago, India announced its 16 member squad for the 5 match T20 International series and now the hosts, New Zealand have announced their squad that will face India in the series of the shortest format. But still, both the teams haven’t announced their squad for the 3 match One Day International series and the 2 match test series that will be played after the 5 match T20 International series.

A 32-year-old medium pace fast bowler, Hamish Bennett has been named in the squad of New Zealand. Bennett will be making his T20 International debut in this 5 match T20 International series against India. He has earlier played 16 One Day International matches and alone test match for New Zealand. Hamish will be back with the New Zealand team after three years.
Yesterday New Zealand announced a 14 member squad that will be led by their regular skipper, Kane Williamson. There are some injury concerns for the hosts. Their main players are down with injuries and that is why, they needed to call in Hamish Bennett in their squad.
New Zealand Team Squad 2020 Against India – New Zealand will not have the services of players like Trent Boult, Lockie Ferguson, Matt Henry, Doug Bracewell, Adam Milne, Tom Latham, and Seth Rance.
New Zealand will have an attack that will feature pace bowlers like debutant Hamish Bennett, Tim Southee, Scott Kuggeleijn, and Blair Tickner with two spinners, Ish Sodhi and Mitchell Santner in this squad for New Zeakand’s five-match series in the shortest format.

The chief selector of New Zealand Cricket Board, Gavin Larsen said that they have selected Bennett because of his performance in the Super Smash T20 League. In that league tournament, Bennett took 14 wickets in just 10 games. This is going to be a huge series against India and they are delighted to have Hamish in their T20 International set up.

He has been highly consistent because he has evolved his game with high consistency. He is one of the bowlers who can bring pace and bounce. With that, he is also clever with his variations and that is what makes him a well-round T20 bowler in the squad.
Kane Williamson missed the T20 International series against England but will now return to lead the side. In his absence, New Zealand lost the T20 International series against England. New Zealand’s A team Captain, Tom Burce will be available for the final two matches of the series alongside Colin Grandhomme, who will play the first three T20 International matches while James Neesham has been dropped from this squad.

Daryl has got this opportunity because he brings an additional balance in the squad and is also an important all-rounder in the shortest format. James Neesham, another all-rounder, hasn’t found a place in the side but he will play for the New Zealand A team in the one day international series against the India A side.
This series will be a huge series for both the teams as India and New Zealand will want to win this series and consider a plan for the World T20 campaign which will be played in Australia later this year.
