TRS extends support to Margaret Alva in Vice-Presidential elections
- TRS leader Keshav Rao has announced that his party will be supporting opposition’s Vice-Presidential candidate Margaret Alva. The Vice-Presidential elections will be held on 6th August.
All women navy crew conducts maiden mission
- An all-women navy aircrew carried out a maritime surveillance and reconnaissance mission in the Arabian sea creating history. The 5 women were on board a Dornier 228 aircraft based at Naval Air Enclave in Porbandar.

- The Ministry of Textiles will be hosting the 8th Handloom Day on 7th August. The Day was commemorated in 2015 to honour and help handloom workers. Various events will be held on the day to create awareness about the Handloom industry of India.
Vice-Presidential elections to take place today
- Vice-Presidential elections will be held today with 788 members of both houses voting in the election. NDA’s candidate Jagdeep Dhankar will compete against opposition candidate Margaret Alva. NDA’s candidate is expected to comfortably win the polls.
Mamata Banerjee meets PM Modi during her visit
- TMC Chief and West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi during her 4-day visit to Delhi. During the meeting, she requested PM to release pending funds for West Bengal.
- Mamata Banerjee also called newly elected President Draupadi Murmu presenting her with flowers, a handcrafted scarf, and Bengali sweets.
Centre extends the term of cabinet secretary
- The centre has extended the term of cabinet secretary Rajiv Gauba by one year. His term was to end on 30th August 2022. Rajiv Gauba is the hand behind the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Act, 2019.

- Google has launched a new initiative ‘India ki Udaan’ to mark India’s 75 years of independence. It will show India’s achievements through visuals and archives.
