Pakistan Vs Bangladesh Match Highlights – Pakistan’s Batting

Pakistan needed at last 500 runs to book their semi-final berth. As said earlier, it is an impossible task for the Pakistani batsmen to score that many runs in the first place. They won the toss and batted first in this crucial match. But, again the start wasn’t good for them. Fakhar Zaman was out early and that brought pressure on Babar Azam and Iman ul Haq. After Zaman was out for just 13 runs, Azam and Haq steadied the innings with a great partnership. The 157 runs stand gave the momentum to Pakistan.

Both the batsmen played well and ensured that Pakistan didn’t lose a wicket quickly. They crossed their fifties and looked good for a hundred. Bangladesh, on the other hand, wanted to break this partnership. But surprisingly he didn’t use Soumya Sarkar’s bowling services when it was required the most. He kept on his regular bowlers on and that did the trick for Bangladesh. Mohd Saifuddin got the much-needed wicket and gave a crucial breakthrough to Bangladesh. Babar Azam looked for another 100 in this tournament. But he was out to Saifuddin after he scored a magnificent 96 runs.

Then, Imam ul Haq scored his hundred, his first in this tournament. Unfortunately, he was out hit wicket. Iman ul Haq scored brilliant 100 runs which gave Pakistan a momentum in this match. Bangladesh made a good comeback in the later overs. They dismissed Hafeez cheaply. The poor form of Mohd Hafeez continued in this last match also. Hafeez was out for just 26 runs. Bangladesh also picked up Haris Sohail. The man in-form for Pakistan. Harris was out for 6 runs only. Then came the injury to the skipper Sarfraz Ahmed. Imad Wasim hit the ball straight to Sarfraz’s hand that made him leave the field.

Wahab Raiz and Shadab Khan weren’t good enough. They were dismissed very cheaply. Mustafizur Rahman took a good return catch that ended Shadab’s run. Imad Wasim too perished in the last over. He scored 43 runs off 26 balls and Fizz also dismissed Mohd Amir on the next ball. He fell for 8 runs.

Sarfraz Ahmed came to bat again and he scored just a single run on the last delivery which took Pakistan to 315 runs after their 50 overs.

It was a sorry batting card for Bangladesh once again. They failed to convert their starts. It was Shakib Al Hasan who batted well again. But the others didn’t support him. The openers continued their poor form. Soumya Sarkar looked good for his 22 runs but he failed yet again to convert the start and then Tamim Iqbal was let off earlier but he didn’t use that chance. He was out for 8 runs. The Pakistani bowlers dented the Bangladeshi inning every time when they were set. There was no partnership which could threaten Pakistan.

Even though Shakib batted very well but he had no support at the other end. He fought a lone battle for some time as Rahim was also out cheaply for 16 runs. Then, Shakib and Liton Das tried to control the Bangladeshi innings. It was a small partnership which brought Bangladesh back in the game. But, Shaheen Afridi started the process to dent the Bangladeshi innings. Liton Das was out after he scored 32 runs. Later, Shaheen struck again. This was the huge wicket for Pakistan. Shakib was out after scoring his fifty. Shaheen picked up the important scalp and there it was all over for Bangladesh. Shakib was out for 64 runs.

After Shakib’s wicket, it was a mere formality for Pakistan to clean up the tail. Mosaddek Hossain was the next one bit the dust. He was out for 16 runs with Mahmudullah was also out for 29 runs. The tail tried to hang in but Shaheen Afridi was too good in front of them. He dismissed Saifuddin and Mustafizur very quickly. They scored 0 and 1 run respectively. Mortaza too was out for just 15 runs. He stumped by Skipper Sarfraz off Shadab Khan’s bowling.

Bangladesh was bundled out for just 221 runs and that too only in the 44th over of the match.
