Phi Ta Khon Festival
Phi ta Khon is a very unique and colorful Festival celebrated in Loei Province.
Phi ta Khon festival is also renowned as Ghost festival. The festival lasts for 3 days and the whole festival is known as Bun Luang.
The first day of the event is the Ghost festival. This day, Residents seek protection from the spirit of Mun River. Later people play traditional games and take part in the procession of making huge masks out of carved coconut tree trunks, design them and wear them. The mask represents ghosts and they are paraded while carrying the image of Buddha.
Second-day features, dance competitions, rocket festival, and parades.
On the Third day or the final day, people listen to Sermons by monks.
Date: Between March and July.
Venue: Loei province, Isan, Thailand.
