Pierce Brosnan endorsing Pan Bahar had triggered both amusement and outrage among Indian Audience last week. Now, the bond said that he was “Shocked and saddened” by the unauthorized use of his image to promote a product that could be dangerous to health.
The actor gave a statement to the People Magazine, in which he said, his contract was to endorse, “a product that was all natural containing neither tobacco nor any other harmful ingredient”.
Pan Masalas mostly contain the harmful ingredient that causes cancer and the government rules, they are expected to carry statutory warnings.
Having lost his wife and daughter to cancer, Brosnan said, he was committed to supporting programs that improve health.
The endorsement evoked outrage over twitter like these:
