The IPL season-13 to be held in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) was nothing short of a nightmare for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) as the franchise experienced a tough time and failed to make it to the Final Four for the first time. More disappointing news for fans was skipper MS Dhoni’s poor form and his struggles to score fast runs between wickets.

Dhoni made his return to cricket in IPL 2020 after a 14-month long hiatus from competitive cricket and he managed to score 200 runs in 14 matches with an average of 25 and a poor strike rate of 116.27. After this, there were also reports that he would also quit playing IPL. But the franchise asked to put a stop to these reports that Dhoni will not leave CSK yet. However, Dhoni has been seen spending time with family and friends for the last 2 years. There is a possibility that Dhoni’s IPL 2021 may be the last season. He has already retired from international cricket.

Harbhajan Singh

India’s experienced specialist spin bowler, Harbhajan Singh has been one of the most successful bowlers in the country and is behind Muttiah Muralitharan of Sri Lanka in terms of Test wickets by an off-spinner. Bhajji has been successful in spreading his magic in the Indian Premier League (IPL) as he defined several matches for Mumbai Indians (MI). Spinner Harbhajan was joined by Mumbai during the first season of IPL and stayed with him till the 2017 season. Harbhajan played an important role in the team’s victories in 2013 and 2015. In 2018, Harbhajan was seen playing for the Super Kings and during his two-year stint with him, he picked up 23 wickets in 24 matches.

In IPL 2020, Harbhajan refused to play the league citing personal reasons in the last moments. Subsequently, CSK management released him from the team for IPL 2021. When the players were auctioned, Harbhajan did not consider anyone important to buy in the first round, but in the end KKR showed interest in buying them. Of course, 40-year-old Harbhajan may have been bought by KKR, but this season will not be easy for him. If Harbhajan fails to perform as expected, it could prove to be his last season. Then in the IPL 2022, fans rarely see them on the field.

imran tahir

South African veteran right-arm leg spin bowler Imran Tahir has a tremendous record in bowling in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Imran Tahir made his IPL debut with the Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals) during the 2014 edition. Tahir then played the season for the Rising Pune Supergiant in 2017 before moving to the Chennai Super Kings.

Imran has taken 80 wickets in 58 IPL matches at an economy rate of 7.83 and an average of 21.1. The Pakistan spinner gave his best in the IPL during the 2019 edition, playing for the Super Kings. Tahir was the owner of the Purple Cap in 2019 as he registered his name as the highest wicket-taker in a season with 26 wickets. However, despite a great performance in IPL 2019, 42-year-old Imran struggled to get a place in the playing XI in IPL 2020 as he took just one wicket in just three matches.

Apart from this, the spinner is also not active in international cricket as he played the last match for South Africa in the ODI against Australia in July 2019. Thus, Imran Tahir is unlikely to get a place in the CSK team this year as Moeen Ali will be his favorite. With the mega auction scheduled for next year, Imran Tahir is unlikely to be selected by any franchise.
