Perhaps the best players of the Premier League this season were Mohammad Salah and Sadio Mane who were instrumental in Liverpool’s first Premier League title win this season in 30 years. Other players who enjoyed an excellent season and displayed their exemplary skills with the ball were Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Riyad Mahrez. Mahrez scored 11 goals and 9 assists for Manchester City this season and also became an integral part of their starting lineup. He featured in the opening XI players of the team 21 times this season.

Aubameyang scored 22 goals for Arsenal this season, only 1 short of the Golden Boot winner Jamie Vardy who scored 23 goals for Leicester City. Although his team didn’t perform well owing to a transition phase it is going through, the Gabonese played exceptionally well and was the most efficient player for Arsenal this season. All eyes would be on him when Arsenal meet Chelsea for the FA Cup final on Saturday.

Salah scored 19 goals for the Reds while Mane scored 18 for the Champion team. Although they scored lesser goals than that they scored last season, yet their phenomenal ability to get the Reds over the line in some of the tightest fixtures this season earned them a special place in the greatest African players of all time. Both of them are excellent contenders for the African Player of the Year Award. Jordan Ayew was awarded the Crystal Palace Player of the Season because of his career-best Premier League return of 9 goals this season improving his team’s position considerably with his brilliance.

Ivory Coast international Jean-Philippe Gbamin was signed by Everton this season. He could not prove his worth this season after being transferred from Mainz for a lofty £25 million in August. His thigh injury put him on the bench till January. This was followed by the coronavirus pandemic thus denying him the much-needed game time. Wilfried Zaha also turned out to be a wasteful signing for Crystal Palace, with the Ivory Coast international scoring only 4 goals and 3 assists for a player of his reputation.
