Tottenham was visiting Aston Villa at Villa Park who is currently in a relegation battle with time which is slowly running out. Villa had failed to register a win against Tottenham since 2008, but Tottenham managed to win only 2 games out of the 18 played on the road. Aston Villa stuck with the 3-4-3 formation and Tottenham went with the 4-2-3-1 with Son leading the charge.
It was a quick start with Son instantly attacking and getting clattered. Tottenham was looking like the better side but found themselves trailing in the 9th minute by Alderweireld’s own goal. This gave Villa confidence and Grealish started attacking more. Alli had been receiving a lot of crosses but failed to convert any. Villa was searching for the second goal when the attack broke down and a quick break was on. Alderweireld struck again in the 27th minute when he managed to put the ball in the back of the net from a failed Villa clearance. It was indeed a smashing hit.

Premier League 2020 Tottenham Hotspur FC vs Aston Villa Highlights – The second away started similarly with Grealish being a little careful and spurs counter-attacking. Villa was back on level terms in the 53rd minute when Engels rose to a corner cross by Grealish and just nodded past Lloris. Both the teams were attacking with equal intent, so it could be anyone’s game. Gradually, Villa was losing steam and Spurs were looking more threatening. The final quarter of the game became even more interesting with players missing clear cut chances on each end. Dele Alli had a mediocre game with him missing chances and failing to provide killer passes. With 4 additional minutes on the clock, Spurs looked in complete control of the game. Engels failed to clear the ball and instead put it in Son’s path who made no mistake and rolled it under Reina into the far bottom corner. A 94th minute, what more could you ask for?
