Going ahead with Premier League Gameweek 22 Results, after two defeats in their last two matches, Liverpool got back to winning ways to silence talks of a crisis for the time being with a 1-0 win against Brighton. Despite it not being the prettiest of performances by the table toppers, it was an efficient enough one, one that sees them maintain their 4 point lead over fellow title challengers Manchester City who were far more convincing in gameweek 22, defeating Wolverhampton 3-0. In other significant top 4 matches, Chelsea made the most of slip-ups by Tottenham and Arsenal to move onto 47 points, just 1 point behind Tottenham and 6 ahead of fifth-placed Arsenal.

Having rested key players in the FA Cup, one that had seen them exit yet another tournament for this season, Liverpool’s performance was by no shadow doubtful; one that would have inspired much confidence in their supporters.
They were sluggish in their attacks, deciding to keep persisting with an over the top strategy by their defenders, one that clearly kept catapulting given Brighton’s extreme resolve and determination to keep out everything Liverpool threw at them. While the hosts were drilled to the core defensively, staying immaculately and flawlessly organised and compact, Liverpool’s lack of bite in their attacks was more of their own doing.
Going into the break on the back of a lacklustre performance, things turned favourable for the visitors in the second half when Mohammed Salah was fouled in the penalty box for his fourth penalty of the season. He followed it up with an emphatic and resounding finish, one that was enough to see them to a crucial three points that saw them get back to winning ways.

Meanwhile, what was touted to be a tricky encounter for second-placed City, turned out to be extremely one-sided in their favour after Wolverhampton blew them apart. A performance that is not akin to their nature, left the tourists suffering after they were shown a red card in the first half, one in which they went onto giving away a penalty as well afterwards to lose by 3-0, the biggest margin of defeat, an otherwise resolute and impressive side has fallen to this season.
With Tottenham and Arsenal both losing 1-0, it was time for Chelsea to take the onus on themselves and deliver a performance worthy of the three points. Having lacked incisiveness in front of goal, failing to create outright goal scoring opportunities, the same problem bit Chelsea in the back after Newcastle equalised, with the London based outfit keeping the majority of the ball but failing to convert it into anything meaningful.
What was frustrating and far from the impressive first half for the hosts, was overturned in the second with the side showing more intent in their pursuit of a goal that would be a huge stamp in their credentials of a top 4 finish this season. Willian ultimately got the breakthrough for his side to ensure that Chelsea has put themselves in a strong position ahead of their crucial encounter against Arsenal this weekend.
For Tottenham, the gameweek was a horrendous one, not only due to the manner they lost a match in which they had done more than their fair share of walking away with a result but also with their star striker Harry Kane suffering an injury that will keep him out for a period of 2 months. Tottenham’s key threat upfront will miss crucial and pivotal season deciding matches for his side and his loss could be an impossible one his team could cope with.

In the relegation spots, Burnley’s change of form continued with them defeating fellow strugglers Fulham 2-1. Despite not having one shot on target in the match, Burnley managed to take home the three points after Fulham scored two own goals in the span of four minutes to give Burnley a 2-1 win.
Huddersfield and Cardiff drew 0-0, a result favourable for Cardiff who stayed at 17th, out of the relegation spots while Huddersfield continues to sit right at the bottom, furthering cement their status as the first side to exit the league this time around.
