The match day began with Liverpool travelling to Leicester on Saturday for the day’s early kick-off. And what was panning out to be a routine win for Liverpool, courtesy of two goals in the first half from Mane and Firmino turned into a catastrophe after a major blunder from their 65 million pounds new keeper Alisson Becker. Signed to replace a shaky at best Karius in goal and strengthen the one most obvious glaring weakness in their squad, Alisson did something that made every football lover around the world flinch. Trying to dribble the ball inside his own box with a man on him, Alisson gave up possession to concede not only an unnecessary but a pathetic and silly goal. That turned the match around as Leicester made the most of the opportunity to rattle Liverpool’s box in search of a second. They were unable to break through though as Liverpool returned home with the three points.

The next big match of the day saw Chelsea host Bournemouth in Sarri’s second home match of the season. And it was another exquisite performance from the London giants. They for the fourth match in a row dominated proceedings, hardly giving Bournemouth any meaningful chance in the game. Playing wonderful, pleasing to the eye attacking football, Chelsea finally broke apart a Bournemouth team that was posted in their own half for the majority of the match. Pedro came on to give his side a lead with Marcos Alonso assisting Eden Hazard for Chelsea’s second goal to seal a subliminal 2-0 win for them.

Manchester City got back to winning ways in Saturday’s last match. The current champions were not at their best for the second match in a row but mustered up enough to take home the three points against Newcastle via a 2-1 win.

Sunday greeted us to a five-goal thriller between Cardiff and Arsenal. With defensive frailties, Arsenal became the first side Cardiff scored against in more than four months. The hosts pulled back twice before Lacazette got Arsenal the winner with a goal worthy of the three points.

In the week’s biggest shock result, Watford stunned Tottenham 2-1 at Vicarage Road. This season’s surprise package, Watford continued their good home form from last season to win all first four games of their season for the first time in their history.
