Priyanka Chopra Apologized CN traveller Cover Insulting refugees
Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra apologized after being criticized for being on the Cover page of Conde Nast Traveller wearing an insensitive top.
She wore a top which had words, “migrant”, “Refugee” and “outsider” crossed out and the word “traveler” stands out.
She was criticized and pointed out that being a refugee was “not a choice”.
Priyanka in a statement said, “I am really apologetic about sentiments being hurt. I have always been against labels. I am very affected and feel really horrible, but the message has been misconstrued…The magazine was very clear that they wanted to send a message about addressing xenophobia with labels”.
The magazine tried to clarify their intention behind the photograph. They explained that they believe in “the world without borders” and had a point to make. It said, “We must recognize that we are all on a journey. Whether we are moving across oceans or just a few kilometers, or in our mind’s eye, into a completely different world, whether we are doing so due to free will or circumstance – we are all travelers.”
The Magazine cover which was out earlier this month, caused outrage among Indian, many claiming it to be inappropriate.
