Pro Kabaddi League 2018 auction: Full list of players sold
With the Kabaddi season almost upon us, the Pro Kabaddi League 2018 auction took place on Wednesday. The event was a star studded affair, one that was attended by all team owners. Seeing players go under the hammer, franchisees fought it out blow by blow to strengthen their teams to the core in a bid to launch their challenge for the 2018 title.
The fourth auction of the PKL saw Monu Goyat from Bhiwadi bag home the biggest prize. He became the costliest player after Haryana Steelers opted for his services at a whopping cost of 1.5 crores. The move saw him realise an age old dream of his to play Kabaddi at the big stage for a top side. Years of hard-work and extreme practice paid off for Goyat who hails from the same village as Vijender Singh. The son of a farmer was modest as ever when as to comment on his buy. “What will I do with so much money?” he said. I don’t know. My uncle was a big Kabaddi player in his days and was even in the national team for an Asian Games.”
The costliest of all time in Pro Kabaddi League 2018 auction was 6 players being sold for over a crore. Rahul Chaudhari, Deepak Hooda, Nitin Tomar, Devadiga and Atrachali were the other five players who took home six figures. Tomar who was the expensive player last year at 93 lakhs was once again picked up by Puneri Paltan at 1.15 crores as they looked to retain their captain and with that their main core.“For a while people used to taunt me about not following the same path as most in my family,” Tomar said. “Now nobody dares. They’ve become Kabaddi fans.”
