An initiative of ProSportify and Wrestling Federation of India, Pro Wrestling League 2019 (PWL) is touted as the biggest Olympic Wrestling League not only in the country but in the world as well. With participants from 15 nationalities spanning across Asia, Europe, Africa and the American continent, the prestigious event is bigger and better for its 2019 edition, seeing the number of participating teams go up as well from 5 to 6 with the addition of a new franchise in the form of MP Yodha.

 The floundering premier format sees a team composition of nine players per side made up of five men and four women, spread over 8 different weight categories. While five are Indian nationals, the four grapplers in each side are international players, making the league extremely competitive with some of the best wrestlers in the world competing for a shot at the glistening title and the Rs.1.9 crores prize money.

The auctions for the Pro Wrestling League 2019 was a heated affair, seeing teams ensuing in heated and determined battles between the six competing teams – Delhi Sultans, UP Dangal, Haryana Hammers, MP Yodha, Mumbai Maharathi and the NCR Punjab Royals to add the best players to strengthen their sides. A massive 225 players were part of the pool for the auction, including some real world beaters that included world champions, Olympic champions and international title holders. Pooja Dhanda, Bajrang Punia, Vinesh Phogat, Sakshi Malik, and Sumit Malik are the star Indian representations for this instalment of the league.

Pro Wrestling League 2019

The Pro Wrestling League 2019 will kick-start on 14th January at 7:00 pm with the defending champions NCR Punjab Royals taking on Mumbai Maharathi in the tournament’s opener. The matches will be telecasted live on Sony Ten 3, Six/HD.

  • International Players per Team: Four

Number of Bouts per Match: Seven in League Phase

The Pro Wrestling League 2019 offers a prize purse of Rs. 3 Crore.

  • Winning Team: Rs. 1.9 Crore
  • Runner up Team: Rs. 1.1 Crore


PWL guarantees a minimum of 130 bouts. The League strictly conforms to the rules of United World Wrestling and Wrestling Federation of India.
