PSG become the most successful french club
PSG Football Club – PSG come up with a comeback against Rennes FC to win the Trophee des Champions or the Trophy of Champions in English. The match was played between the french league winner and the french cup winner. The final took place in Shenzhen Universiade Sports Centre stadium in south east China between Paris Saint Germain and Rennes FC.

Rennes FC started the game very well and got the lead by a goal from Adrien Hunou in the 13th minute who was unmarked by the PSG defence and could finish the ball in the net from a Benjamin Bourigeaud’s cross.Just like the French cup final the team that scored first went on to lose the game as Kylian Mbappe started the comeback for PSG as the game remained 1-0 till the one hour mark. Kylian Mbappe produced the equalizer from the pass from the newly acquired Pablo Sarabia who slotted the ball into the empty net.

It was the Argentine, Angel di Maria who completed the comeback for PSG after he scored a free kick in the 73rd minute. Di maria started the game from the bench and was substituted in place of Ander Herrera who has been signed on a free transfer from Manchester United. This was a historic win for PSG as this was their 7th consecutive Trophee des Champions since 2013 taking their total tally to 9. With this win they also took over the place of Olympique Lyon which was the current most successful french club with 8 titles.

Lyon won the cup in 2012 when they defeated Montpellier on penalties. Kylian Mbappe just cannot stop winning trophies as at the age of just 20 years he has won three Ligue 1 titles, one Coupe de France, one Coupe de la Ligue and the World Cup. Neymar did not participate in the final as he was suspended before the game, he saw the match from the stands and came to the pitch for the trophy ceremony and celebration. Both the teams now shift their focus to Ligue 1 as PSG face Nimes on the first match day and Rennes faces Montpelier.
