Although it is a Hindu festival, it is celebrated across all communities to celebrate this beautiful relationship.

Raksha Bandhan has been celebrated for thousands of years. It was first celebrated during the age of Mahabharat when Lord Krishna got his finger cut and drops of blood fell on the ground. Seeing this Droupadi, wife of Pandavas, tore her saree and tied it around his finger to stop the blood. Later, Sri Krishna promised to protect her at all times.
