RCB vs KKR IPL match preview
4 defeats in 4 matches mean Virat Kohli’s side is suffering havoc of a start in the Indian Premier League. It’s not just the defeats though, but the manner in which these defeats have come about for RCB that make for a dismal viewing with the side being outplayed thoroughly in all the matches they’ve contested in. Be it the batting or bowling department, nothing has just been able to sit right for the side that is having yet another season to forget at this stage.
From top to bottom, the RCB playing unit has reeked heavily of underperformance this season. Lined up with horrendous showings, the batting department has faltered time and time again with their most recent failing coming against the Rajasthan Royals. It’s a batting unit heavily dependent on two-star performers, Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers and with the duo failing to live up to expectation, RCB have had absolutely nothing to offer on the front in IPL 2019.
Ahead of today’s encounter, the main area of contention for RCB is getting their bowling order in shape. Too many changes and shuffling around has meant they haven’t given their best pace bowlers in Nathan Coulter-Nile and Tim Southee a run out in the middle and under Kohli’s leadership, the side should get back these two who can make a real difference to their haphazard bowling front and turn things their way.
On a surface that is likely to support the batters throughout the entirety of the match, RCB needs to finally come good and put on at least a total of 180 if they want to finally get a move on in the ranks and register their opening win of the campaign. The key battle will lie between Kohli and AB de Villiers against the spin front of KKR while RCB’s pacers Stoinis and Southee will be eyeing to limit Russell, the only batsman who has managed to come good for KKR in the tournament.
