And for their resurgent form, RCB have no one to thank but the meticulous AB de Villiers. However, a 121-run stand between AB de Villiers (82) and Marcus Stoinis (46) was just what RCB needed. From a situation of no return, the match turned on its head in what was an incredible turnaround in the match. Everything right done by Punjab up to that stage was torn apart with pure, clean and hard hitting from the two seeing 80 runs come in the final 5 overs, 27 off those in Vilojen’s culminating over itself, in what was a testament to awe-inducing batting.

Knowing that this wicket was going to continue to play freely, RCB were fully aware that even 200 could be an easy target to peel off if they allowed Punjab to get into their groove. And despite getting Gayle out early on for just the 23 runs, the 59-run stand for the first wicket between Mayank (35) and Rahul (42) always kept Punjab at par with the required run rate.
