Roshni Nadar Malhotra biography – Roshni Nadar Malhotra, born in New Delhi in 1982 is now the richest woman in India. Just recently, she also became the first woman in India to lead a listed IT company. Born to HCL’s founder, Shiv Nadar, she studied in Vasant Valley School, graduated from Northwestern University majoring in Communication with a focus on Radio/TV/Film, and also graduated with a Masters in Business Administration, focusing on Social Enterprise Management and Strategy from the Kellogg School of Management.
Her career began as she worked in various companies as a producer, before joining HCL Technologies in 2013. After joining HCL, it only took her one year to elevate to be executive director and CEO, and now, she has also become Chairperson of HCL Technologies, after her father, Shiv Nadar, stepped down.

2020: As per the second edition of ‘Kotak Wealth Hurun–Leading Wealthy Women’ report, Roshni Nadar Malhotra of HCL Technologies’ is the richest woman in India with a net worth of Rs.54,850 crores.
As a fact, she has been consistently recognized as ‘The World’s 100 Most Powerful Women’ by Forbes in 2017, 2018, and 2019. Not only this, but she is also an alumnus of the Forum of Young Global Leaders (YGL, 2014-19) which is a unique & diverse community of the world’s most outstanding, next-generation leaders, an initiative of the World Economic Forum.

Before she became CEO of HCL, Roshni served as the trustee of the Shiv Nadar Foundation, which runs the not-for-profit Sri Sivasubramaniya Nadar College of Engineering in Chennai. She was also involved in brand building across the HCL Group and is also the chairperson of VidyaGyan Leadership Academy, which is a leadership academy for the economically underprivileged. Roshni’s passion for wildlife and conservation led her to set up ‘The Habitats’ trust that aims to protect India’s natural habitats and species to create and conserve sustainable ecosystems.

Roshni got married to Shikhar Malhotra in 2010. He is the Vice-Chairman of HCL Healthcare and they have 2 sons, Armaan (born 2013) and Jahaan (born 2017). She is also a trained classical musician.
