Here are matches where Sachin won the man of the man award for his bowling heroics. Yes, he failed with the bat in these matches. But this match-winner of Indian cricket didn’t give up just there. Sachin came back strongly after his batting failures.

1st One Day International – India vs Australia – Pepsi Cup 1998

This was Sachin’s best performance with the ball in hand. He took 5 wickets and gave away just 32 runs in this match against the mighty Aussies at Kochi on April 1, 1998.

Sachin recovered from his batting failure and scored just eight runs with the bat. In this match, he took the wickets of some big Australian players, including the likes of Michel Bevan, Steve Waugh, Damien Martin, Tom Moody, and Darren Lehman. They all fell prey to Sachin’s bowling heroics. This amazing effort from the Master Blaster ensured India’s win in that match by 41 runs. Sachin also won the player of the match award after this amazing performance.

The Wills Trophy – 5th One Day International – West Indies vs India –  Sharjah, 1991

This brilliant bowling effort from the Master Blaster, who you may also call Little Master Sachin Tendulkar, came against West Indies in the fifth One Day International match at Sharjah. This time Sachin bowled to restrict the West Indian batting line up for a low score. West Indies batted first and scored just 145 runs. The Windies couldn’t even bat their whole 50 overs in that match. Sachin bowled magnificently again. The venue was also his favourite one. In Sharjah, Sachin had many fond memories with the bat and this time it was for to his bowling. The crowd in Sharjah erupted on October 22, 1991 when Sachin took 4 wickets and gave away just 34 runs. West Indies had no answer to his bowling and that is why, The Windies were bundled out for just 145 runs.

India’s reply was good with the bat. They chased down this target with just three wickets down. India scored 147 in 37 overs and won the match in style. Sachin’s contribution with the bat was not much but he guided the team home with his unbeaten 11 runs alongside Mohd Azharuddin, who was also not out on 19 runs.

Sachin didn’t pick up a five haul in this match and that is the reason why not many of us remember this contribution of his. So, now you know that Sachin earned the man of the match award to his name for his phenomenal bowling efforts too.
