Seventh Navratri Mata: Day 7 of Navratri is of Maa Kaalratri
On the 7th day of Navratri, Maa Kaalratri, who is the seventh manifestation of Maa Durga is worshiped. With dark black complexion, bountiful hair Ma Kaalratri is shown riding on a donkey and is depicted with four hands. Ma’s right hands are in Abhaya and Varada Mudra and in her two left hands, she carries a sword and a deadly iron hook.
One of the most ferocious forms of Goddess Parvati, Ma Kaalratri blesses her devotees with courage and resoluteness for achieving their goals. Her blessing is known to remove all hurdles, difficulties, and fears from the lives of her devotees. Also known as Goddess Shubhankari (शुभंकरी) because of this auspicious power within her ferocious form Goddess Kalaratri is also the favorite of Tantriks for various dark practices.
Ma Kaalratri is worshiped with the following mantra:-
एकवेणी जपाकर्णपूरा नग्ना खरास्थिता, लम्बोष्टी कर्णिकाकर्णी तैलाभ्यक्तशरीरिणी।
वामपादोल्लसल्लोहलताकण्टकभूषणा, वर्धनमूर्धध्वजा कृष्णा कालरात्रिर्भयङ्करी॥
The beej mantra for Maa is :
क्लीं ऐं श्री कालिकायै नम: ॥
After the seventh day Poojan, Ma Ambike is propitiated as Mahagauri on the 8th day and Ma Siddhidatri on the 9th day of Navratri.

How to worship goddess Kaalratri-
- Light a lamp of ghee in front of the mother.
- Offer red flowers to the mother, and jaggery.
- Chant mantras and recite Saptashati.
- Distribute the jaggery offered to the families and donate half the jaggery to the Brahmin.
- Worship by wearing dark-colored clothes.
