Shaheed Diwas Status Video Download for Whatsapp – In honor of the sacrifice and courage of Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Rajguru, and Sukhdev, 23rd March was named Shaheed Diwas. It was on this date in 1931, the national heroes were hanged till death.
The three young revolutionaries wanted to avenge the death of Indian freedom fighter Lala Lajpat Rai. In 1928, A Simon commission was set up in India by the British government. In October 1928, Lala Lajpat Rai had protested against it and the police superintendent James Scott ordered a lathi-charge to disperse the crowd. Soon violence erupted and Lala was assaulted and injured by the police. This led to his demise later.

Hence, to avenge the death of Lala, the three friends planned a plot to kill James Scott. In December 1928, they accidentally killed an assistant police superintendent John Saunders who was mistaken as Scott.
After the murder, the three of them escaped and were on a run. However, in 1929, they bombed the Delhi assembly and were arrested by the British Police. They awaited their trial in the prison but continued protesting against Britishers.
