The Shani Vajra Panjara Kavacham in Sanskrit, pronunciation and meaning in English.
Shani or Saturn, is believed to be the son of Chaya Devi (Shadow) and Surya (Sun God). Yama, the God of death is his half brother. He takes 30 years to complete the perambulation of the Sun and 30 months to cross one rashi or Zodiac sign (one by twelfth of the journey). It is widely believed that when he occupies the 12th, 1st, 2nd (called sade sathi or seven and a half year sojourn) he causes untold and extreme misery.

The Shani Vajra Panjara Kavacham, a great prayer appeared in the Brahmanda Purana is believed to be the best possible antidote for such a situation. May God Shani be pleased with you and bless you. Below is the Shani Vajra Panjara Kavacham:

श्री गणेशाय नमः    – Shree Ganeshaaya Namah

नीलाम्बरो नीलवपुः किरीटी गृध्रस्थितस्त्रासकरो धनुष्मान्।
चतुर्भुजः सूर्यसुतः प्रसन्नः सदा मम स्याद् वरदः प्रशान्तः ।।1।।

Neelaambaro neelavapuh Kireeti, gridhrasthitastraasakaro dhanushamaana
Chaturbhujah sooryasutah prasannah sadaa, mama syaadvaradah prashaantah

Oh God who is dressed in blue silk, has a blue body,
wears a Crown,  sits on vulture, is fearsome, armed with a bow,
Has four hands and is the son of Soorya (Sun God),
Be always pleased with me and bless me.

ब्रह्मा उवाच।

शृणुध्वमृषयः सर्वे शनिपीड़ाहरं महत्।
क्वचं शनिराजस्य सौरेरिदमनुत्तमम्।।2।।

Brahmovaach
Shrinuddhvam rishayah sarve shanipeedaaharam mahat
Kavacham shaniraajasya saureridamanuttamam

Listen Oh Sages, Remover of all pains brought by the Great Shani
This is the armour of the regal Shani, who is son of Soorya
and who is incomparable.

क्वचं देवतावासं वज्रपंजरसंज्ञकम्।
शनैश्चरप्रीतिकरं सर्वसौभाग्यदायकम्।।3।।

Kavacham devataavaasam vajrapanjarasajnyakam
Shanaishcharapreetikaram sarvasaubhaagyakam

This is an armour called Vajra panjara kavacham,
it is an abode of the god; pleases Shanaishchara and gives all good luck.

अउम् श्री शनैश्चर: पातु भालं मे सूर्यनन्दनः।
नेत्रे छायात्मजः पातु पातु कर्णौ यमानुजः।।4।।

Aum shree shanaishcharah paatu bhaalam me sooryanandanah
Netre chhaayaatmajah paatu paatu karnou yamaanujah

In the next few shlokas, invoking Shani by his different names, the singer prays for protection of different parts of body.

Om, Oh the glorious slow moving one,
let the son of Sun protect my brows,
let the loving son of Chaayaa protect my both eyes,
let the younger brother of Yama protect my both ears.

नासां वैवस्वतः पातु मुखं मे भास्करः सदा।
स्निग्धकण्ठश्च मे कण्ठं भुजौ पातु महाभुजः ।।5।।

Naasaam vaivasvatah paatu mukham mebhaaskarih sadaa
Snigdhakanthashcha me kantham bhujou paatu mahaabhujah

Let my nose be protected by Vaivasvata,
Let the Bhaaskari protect my face,
Let One with smooth throat protect my voice,
And let the one with long arms may protect my both arms

स्कन्धौ पातु शनिश्चैव करौ पातु शुभ्प्रदः।
वक्षं पातु यमभ्राता कुक्षिं पात्वसितस्तथा।।6।।

Skandhou paatu shanishchaiva karou paatu shubhapradah
Vakshah paatu yamabhraataa kukshim paatvasitastathaa

Let Shani protect both my shoulders,
Let my both hands be protected by he who is a giver,
Let the brother of Yama protect my chest,
And the one who is dark in colour protect my sides.

नाभिं ग्रहपतिः पातु मन्दः पातु कटिं तथा।
उरूं ममांतकः पातु यमो जानुयुगं तथा।।7।।

Naabhim grahapatih paatu mandah paatu katim tathaa
Urum mamaantakah paatu yamo jaanuyugam tathaa

Let my navel be protected by the lord of planets,
Let my waist be protected by the the slow mover,
Let he who is the bringer of end protect my thighs,
And let Yama protect both my knees.

पादौ मन्दगतिः पातु सर्वाड्;गं पातु पिप्पलः।
अड्;गोपाड्;गानि सर्वाणि रक्षेन् मे सूर्यनन्दनः।।8।।

Paadou mandagatih paatu sarvaangam paatu pippalah
Angopaangaani sarvaani rakshenme sooryanandanah

Let the God with slow speed protect my legs
Let all my organs be protected by the Pippalah,
And all primary and secondary organs of my body,
Be protected by the son of Soorya.

इत्येतत्कवचं दिव्यं पठेत्सूर्यसुतस्य यः।
न तस्य जायते पीड़ा प्रीतो भवति सूर्यजः।।9।।

Ityetatkavacham divyam pathetsooryasutasya yah
Na tasya jaayate peedaa preeto bhavatah sooryajah

Thus whosoever reads this divine armour of Shani,
his pain does not rise because the son of Soorya gets pleased.

व्ययजन्मद्वितीयस्थो मृत्युस्थानगतोपिवा।
क्लत्रस्थो गतोवापि सुप्रीतस्तु सदा शनिः।।10।।

Vyayajanmadvitiyastho mrityusthaanagatoapi vaa
Kalatrastho gato vaapi supreetastu sadaa shani

Whether Shani (Saturn ) occupies the twelfth, first or second house,
Or even goes to 8th house, the house of death or occupies the seventh star,
he will always be pleased with the person reading this.

अष्टमस्थो सूर्यसुते व्यये जन्मद्वितीयगे।
कवचं पठते नित्यं न पीड़ा जायते क्वचित्।।11।।

Ashtamasthe sooryasute vyayejanmadvityage
Kavacham pathet nityam na peedaa jaayate kvachit

Whether Saturn is situationed in the 8th, 12th, 1st or 2nd house,
No pain shall arise by reading this Kavacham dialy.

इत्येतंत्कवचं दिव्यं सौरेर्यन्निर्मितं पुरा।
द्वादशाष्टम्जन्मस्थदोषान्नाशयते सदा।
जन्मलग्नस्थितान् दोषान् सर्वान्नाशयते प्रभुः।।12।।

Ityetatkavacham divyam saurerayannirmitam puraa
Dvaadashaashtamjanmasthadoshhannaashayate sadaa
Janmalagnasthitaan doshaan sarvaan naashayate prabhuh.

Thus this divine kavacham of Shani written in earlier or ancient times
always remove all the trouble rising from Shani being situated in 12th, 8th and 1st house.

शनिवज्रपंजरकवचं संपूर्णम्।।
