Sub Lieutenant, Shivangi Swaroop (also being called as Shivangi Pilot) is from Muzaffarpur, Bihar. Shivangi has become the first woman pilot of the Indian Navy.

She was formally inducted into the Indian Navy by Vice Admiral AK Chawla in June 2018 after her initial training and now on 2nd December 2019, she has become the first woman pilot to have been inducted into the Indian Navy.

When Shivangi Pilot was asked about her views about her desire to become a pilot, she said that once, when she was a child, she saw a helicopter landing somewhere near her house and since then she determined to become a pilot.

Shivangi Pilot is now 24-years-old and has completed her operations training and has also joined the operations duty at the Kochi base. She will now be flying the Dornier Maritime Reconnaissance Aircraft, the surveillance aircraft Dornier-228, manufactured by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited.

Shivangi Pilot (Shivangi Swaroop) completed her studies in Muzaffarpur, Bihar itself and her father is a teacher in a government school while her mother is a home-maker. Shivangi did her early education form the DAV Public School in Muzaffarpur after which she did B.Tech from the Sikkim Manipal Institute of Technology and then passed the SAC examination under 27 NOC courses and finally earned a commission in the Indian Navy.

Shivangi Pilot finally got inducted into the Indian Navy as SSC (Pilot) as part of 27 NOC course in Indian Naval Academy, Ezhimala and formally got commissioned by Vice Admiral AK Chawla, in June last year.

While achieving this feat, she also did not fail to mention that she had been waiting for this day for a very long time and that it finally is here. She also added that she was looking forward to completing her 3rd stage of training.
