  • A small group of Indian players of Chennai Super Kings including MS Dhoni has begun quarantining so that practice sessions can be started from March 9.
  • Delhi Capitals has named its co-owners JSW Group as the principal sponsor of the team for a period of three years.
  • Showing his appreciation for Rishabh Pant’s performance in the ongoing fourth Test, Sourav Ganguly said that “he will be an all-time great in all formats in the years to come”.

  • Virat Kohli feels that rotation policy is the way forward in the age of bio-bubbles because restrictive quarantines can cause mental fatigue. He said “I feel any format of the game is the right place for rotation. No human being can possibly go on for that many numbers of games throughout the year. Everyone needs to find windows of having some time off.”
  • Top snooker players, including many-time world champion Pankaj Advani, will feature in the Bangalore Snooker Academy. The second edition of the All India Open Championship will be held between 5-13 March.
  • Indian women’s trap team lost to Russia by 4-6 and got the silver medal in the ISSF World Cup held in Cairo.
  • Indian paddler Achanta Sharath Kamal got defeated by World No.7 Lin Yun-Ju of Taipei in men’s singles pre-quarters in World Table Tennis Contender Doha.
  • Sania Mirza along with her partner Andreja Klepac got ousted from Qatar Total Open.

  • As per the latest ICC men’s T20I rankings, KL Rahul has retained his second spot in the batsmen rankings while Virat Kohli moved one spot to grab the sixth spot.
  • MC Mary Kom has been picked as the chairperson of the champions and veterans committee of the International Boxing Association.
  • Wrestler Sonam Malik was left out of the UWW ranking series event in Rome due to a freak head injury. Deepak Punia and Ravi Dahiya also pulled out of the tournament for different reasons.
  • Indian men’s hockey team played out a 1-1 draw against Germany in the second game of its four-match tour of Europe.
  • PV Sindhu and Kidambi Srikanth entered the Round of 16 at the Swiss Open Super 300 tournament after their respective wins in singles competitions.
  • As per ICC Women’s ODI rankings, Smriti Mandhana has dropped down two slots and is now at the sixth spot. Mithali Raj has maintained her ninth spot.
  • Virat Kohli is set to equal the record of MS Dhoni of ‘most matches as captain’ of the Indian team in Tests, 60th Test as captain, when India take on England in the fourth Test in Ahmedabad.
  • Jyothi Surekha Vennam set a new national record in the ranking round by scoring 710/720, breaking her own national record of 709/720 she set last year.
  • Indian Women’s Hockey Team suffered a third consecutive defeat against Germany. The team however impressed in defence.

  • IPL team franchise Mumbai Indians has entered into a partnership with DHL Express to be on board as a principal sponsor and official logistics partner of the team.
  • Virat Kohli became the first Indian to cross 100 million followers on Instagram. ICC took to Instagram to welcome Kohli’s entry into an elite club that features football stars like Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, and Neymar.
  • Nitin Gadkari, Minister of Road Transport and Highways believes that if BCCI builds infrastructure and conducts matches in economically backward regions, cricket would become considerably more popular.
  • Karnataka and Mumbai qualified for the Vijay Hazare Trophy quarter-finals while Tamil Nadu got knocked out.
  • Roger Federer is set to make his much-awaited return to professional tennis at the Qatar Open in Doha starting 8 March. But Federer has withdrawn from the Miami Masters, taking place two weeks after the ATP 250 event in Qatar.
  • Vijender Singh is all set to return to the boxing ring on 19 March. The bout will take place in Goa on the rooftop deck of a docked ship. His opponent is yet-to-be-announced.
  • Churchill Brothers extended its lead atop the 2020-21 I-League standings with a 3-2 win over 10-man Gokulam Kerala FC while RoundGlass Punjab defeated Neroca 1-0 on 1 March 2021.
  • Football Sports Development Limited has announced the semi-final fixtures for Indian Super League 2020-21. ATK Mohun Bagan, Mumbai City FC, FC Goa and NorthEast United FC, will compete to reach the League final scheduled for March 13. Mumbai City FC will play against fourth-placed FC Goa while ATK Mohun Bagan will play against NorthEast United FC. Mumbai City FC was declared as the League Shield Winners on Sunday after the side registered a 2-0 win over ATK Mohun Bagan.
  • Wrestler Vinesh Phogat grabbed a gold medal at the Outstanding Ukrainian Wrestlers and Coaches Memorial tournament in Kiev after pinning down 2017 world champion Vanesa Kaladzinskaya.
  • The Maharashtra government has given permission for three scheduled ODIs between India and England in Pune without spectators.
  • Sunrisers Hyderabad, Rajasthan Royals, and Punjab Kings have raised objections to BCCI’s decision to host the upcoming season of IPL in only six venues, including Ahmedabad, which is not the home grounds of any of the franchises.
  • Mohammad Azharuddin, current Hyderabad Cricket Association President has said that Hyderabad is capable of conducting IPL this year in a bio-secure bubble.
  • India made an impressive return to international hockey beating Germany 6-1.
  • Hiken Shah, the Mumbai cricketer, can resume his cricketing career again. He was slapped with a five-year ban by the BCCI in 2015 after Pravin Tambe,   his Rajasthan Royals teammate,  accused him of approaching him for corrupt activities.
  • Odisha will host Hero Indian Women’s League 2020-21. The dates are yet to be finalised.
