Legendary Bollywood actor Sridevi passes away in Dubai, at the age of 54
Veteran Bollywood actor Sridevi, who had an incredible career covering over four decades passed away on February 24, 2018, Saturday night at the age of 54, in Dubai. According to the reports, Sridevi died due to an accidental drowning in the bathtub. She had gone to Dubai along with her family to attend her nephew Mohit Marwah’s wedding.
The news was confirmed by the members of the family. While some of the family members returned from the wedding, Sridevi along with her husband Boney and younger daughter Khushi stayed back. Their elder daughter Jahnvi did not accompany them due to her shooting schedule.

A legendary and versatile actor, Sridevi started her career as a child artist in 1969 in a devotional film ‘Thunaivan’ at the age of four and continued to act as a child artist in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada films. Afterward, she debuted as a child artist in Bollywood in the film ‘Julie‘ (1975) at the age of 13.
She made her Bollywood entry in a lead role in 1978 with ‘Solva Sawan’, only five years after actor Jeetendra starrer ‘Himmatwala‘ gained commercial success. While films like ‘Mawaali‘ (1983), ‘Tohfa‘ (1984), ‘Mr. India‘ (1987) and ‘Chandni‘ (1989) kept her at the top in the box-office game, her outings like ‘Sadma‘ (1983), ‘ChaalBaaz‘ (1989), ‘Lamhe‘ (1991), and ‘Gumrah‘ (1993) earned her critical acclaim.
After 15 years she made a successful come back with Gauri Shinde’s ‘English Vinglish‘ in 2012. In 2017, she was seen in a revenge drama film ‘Mom’ opposite Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Akshay Khanna. Her daughter Jahnvi was also a part of the film. Her last onscreen appearance was in a cameo in Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Zero’.
