Match Highlights of Sunrisers Hyderabad Vs KXIP:
- KXIP won by 15 runs
- They made 193-3
- Punjab are 3rd in the table
Sunrisers Hyderabad was completely blown away by the Gayle-storm that hit them on Thursday. Having relinquished their top spot to Kolkata Knightriders, SRH were unable to reclaim it after they were decimated by Chris Gayle. Scoring a century in next to no time, Gayle ensured that Kings XI Punjab took all the points from their last home game.
With the IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali playing host to the Indian Premier League for the last time this season, people thronged in huge numbers to get one last glimpse at their stars. And they were not disappointed as Gayle set off fireworks inside the stadium. Winning the toss and opting to bat proved to be the right decision for Punjab on the night as they went onto register a huge total of 193 for the loss of three wickets. It was all about Gayle from ball one. Continuing from his last match’s form, Gayle looked out to prove a point after having being rejected by all teams before eventually being picked up by KXIP on the last day of the auction. He silenced his critics in style with his trademark innings, one that saw him send the ball out of the park time after time again in an innings that you blinked and missed.
He stood and delivered as the clueless bowler after bowler failed to find a way to contain him. The most impressive thing about his innings was the way he took apart Rashid Khan. Facing the number one T20 bowler in the world hardly fazed Gayle as he smashed him for three consecutive sixes in an over. You know you are in trouble when that happens to your best bowler and an SRH side which is famed for having the best bowling unit in the IPL was left completely dazed and confused as they ran around like headless chickens, only left licking their wounds after Gayle was done with them.
For SRH the chase was a funny one as despite only losing 4 wickets they failed to meet the target provided to them. After losing Shikhar Dhawan early on to an injury, the SRH’s innings failed to get out of the third gear at any time in their chase. Their attitude of playing too safe ending up costing them in the end as they fell short by 15 runs.
While the Sunrisers Hyderabad Vs KXIP match was quite interesting, now all eyes are set for today’s match RCB vs RR
