Qutub Minar
- The Qutub Minar at Mehrauli, Delhi is the tallest tower not only in India but in the world.
- The construction of Qutub Minar was started by Qutbuddin Aibak, the first Muslim ruler of Delhi but he could only finish the basement. Then his successor, Iltutmush, constructed three more floors, and finally, in 1368 Firoz Shah Tughlak constructed the fifth and last floor.
- The tower is made of red sand and marble stones and is 73 meters in height.
- The tower has been inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

Tallest minarets in India
Fateh Burj, Chappar Chiri
- Fateh Burj, also known as Vijay Tower is the tallest religious minar in India.
- The minar is located in Chappar Chiri, Punjab and is dedicated to the establishment of the Sikh Misls.
- In 1710, Banda Singh Bahadur won the battle against Wazir Khan, who commanded the Mughal army at Chappar Chiri.
- The tower stands at 328 feet (100 m) and the three levels of the tower showcase three battle victories viz Victory of Samana at 67 feet, Victory of Sadhaura at 117 feet and Victory of Chappar Chiri at 220 feet.

Chand Minar, Daulatabad
- Chand Minar is located in Daulatabad near Aurangabad district of Maharashtra.
- Also known as the ‘Tower of Moon’, the height of this tower is 63 meters.
- This beautiful minar was built by King Ala-ud-din Bahmani in 1445 C.E.
- The tower showcases a unique confluence of Indo-Islamic architecture.

Shaheed Minar, Kolkata
- One of the tallest towers in India is the Shaheed Minar in Kolkata.
- The tower was built in 1828 in the memory of Major-General Sir David, Commander of the British East India Company.
- The minar, also known as Ochterlony Monument, was designed by J. P. Parker.
- On 9 August 1969, it was rededicated to the martyrs of the Indian freedom movement and was renamed as “Shaheed Minar”.
- The minaret is 48 metres (157 ft) high and has a foundation based on the Egyptian style, Syrian upper portion, and a Turkish dome.

Char Minar, Hyderabad
- Charminar is a very popular historic and ancient tower located in Hyderabad, Telangana.
- Charminar is a square-shaped structure which has an Islamic-style design, but influences of Hindu architecture. It is bounded by four minarets on every corner. Each minaret is 48.7 meters high. These four minarets are a symbol of Islam’s first four Khalifas.
- This beautiful minar was built in 1591 AD by Sultan Muhammad Quli Qutb Shah, the fifth ruler of the Qutub Shahi dynasty.
- It has a mosque on its top floor which is more than 400 years old.
- It is listed as an archaeological and architectural treasure on the official list of monuments.
Tallest minarets in India
Iswari Minar, Jaipur
- Iswari Minar is located near Tripolia Gate of City Palace, Jaipur.
- It was constructed by Jai Singh’s son Raja Ishwari Singh in 1749 AD according to the Vaastu Shastra.
- The height of this tower is 60 feet. It is also called Swarg Suli or Swarg Bhedi Minar.
- The walk to the top of the minaret is very easy as the steps are cut into a gently increasing slope and from here, you can see the beauty of Jaipur.
