The Indian Royal Families have made their mark in the history of the country and the World. There have been many acclaims when the royalties have made news in the international market, like the Maharani Gayatri Devi was listed as one of the most beautiful women of the world by the Vogue Magazine in 1960s. Let’s find out more about the existing Indian Royal Families of the country.

1 – The Mewar Dynasty

Under the leadership of Shriji Arvind Singh Mewar, the Royal family owns resorts¸ heritage hotels and charitable institutions across Rajasthan which are managed by over 1,200 people.  His Highness has taken various initiatives to encourage and promote games like polo on the national and international level and established Mewar polo and India’s first ‘polo destination’,  Ramgarh Resort & Polo Club in Jaipur.

2 – The Wadiyar Dynasty

The Wadiyar Dynasty

Maharaja Yaduveera Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar is the twenty-seventh Maharaja of the Wadiyar Dynasty. They ruled the Indian subcontinent from 1399 to mid-twentieth century when the British Raj got over. The family still follows all their Royal customs and lives an opulent life; the coronation of Maharaja Yaduveera Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar took place on 28th May 2015.

The Royal Family of Alsisar is headed by Abhimanyu Singh, he is otherwise known as the Raja of Khetri. He owns a haveli in Jaipur and in Ranthambore each under his family name. He was the co-sponsor and an instrument in organizing one of the coolest annual EDM festival, Magnetic Fields! of Rajasthan.

The Royal Family of Rajkot is leading way different than other Royals, instead of converting their Palaces into heritage hotels, this family has ventured into diverse enterprises like bio-fuel development and hydropower plants. The investment into projects that aim for environment protection is nearly 100crores, with that they have also collaborated with US Pizza to open outlets across Gujarat.

5 – The Gaekwads of Baroda

The Gaekwads of Baroda

Maharaja Samarjitsinhrao is heading the royal family of the Baroda since 2012. He inherited property worth over Rs. 20,000 crores which comprise of  2,000 acres of prime residential, including 600 acres around the magnificent 187-room Laxmi Vilas Palace and commercial and industrial real estate.

6 – The Royal Family of Jodhpur

The Royal Family of Jodhpur

 The heir of the Royal Family of Jodhpur Yuvraj Shivraj Singh is a polo player and is responsible for training the Jodhpur polo team. The Royal Family of Jodhpur owns not only Forts and palaces but also the Umaid Bhawan in Jodhpur – the world’s largest private residence with the Bal Samand, Sardar Samand, etc.

7 – The Royal Family of Bikaner

The Royal Family of Bikaner

The Royal family of Bikaner is headed by their current heir Princess Rajyashree Kumari. She is a former shooter and an Arjuna Award winner (at the tender age of 16). She owns the luxurious palace and heritage hotel, Lalgarh Mahal and is the Chairperson of many charitable trusts in Rajasthan.
