It’s Madhuri Dixit’s birthday today and we cannot be more excited! Madhuri Dixit has always been loved for her charisma and winning personality both on screen and off screen. With a mad fan following, she has never settled for anything that is less than perfect. We salute her love for excellence with every film we watch. Here are some lesser-known facts about Madhuri Dixit.

 

1. Juhi Chawla and Madhuri Dixit never got along. Reportedly, Juhi Chawla refused any film that had Madhuri Dixit as her co-star. In the sets of Gulaab Gang, they were told to sit in a room all by themselves and were forced to break the ice.

2. Madhuri had a series of flops before she rose to fame and became a star. Her debut film was with Rajshri Productions, named Abodh in 1984. After which she acted in a series of films that did not do well at the box office, for example, Awara Baap, Swati, Manav Hatya Mohre etc. In the end, her film alongside Aamir Khan named Dil finally made her taste success!

3. Madhuri was honoured with the fourth highest civilian award, the Padma Shri in 2008. She was also awarded the National Citizen’s Award on August 25, 2001. She won 6 Filmfare awards and is said to have the highest number of nominations, counting to a total of 13.

4. She was rumoured to have romantic relations with her Khalnayak co-star Sanjay Dutt, but his TADA arrest allegedly led to their breakup. After which she married a cardiovascular surgeon Dr Shriram Madhav Nene at the peak of her career and moved to Denver, where she lived for ten whole years before returning to India for good.

5. Even though Madhuri has a huge fan following, there was one individual who was more than a fan. That person was MF Hussain. In fact, MF Hussain made his Bollywood debut as a director with Gaja Gamini starring Madhuri and Shahrukh Khan. He also made several paintings of her and reportedly watched Hum Aapke Hain Kaun sixty-seven times!

6. Madhuri Dixit will soon make her debut in the Marathi film industry with a movie Bucket List. She will always be in the hearts of all Indians as the Dhak Dhak Girl with the million dollar smile! Happy birthday Madhuri Dixit!
