Holi is one of the most colorful and energetic festivals of India. Holi is the festival of colors celebrated with sweets – specially Gujiya, Pichkari, Bhang, dance and fun. But this year, it is going to be different for all of us. We all have to be very careful before stepping out of our homes. It is very important to keep yourself hydrated during Holi, The season of Holi is the beginning of summer and while playing Holi, running, and chasing our friends we dehydrate quickly. Stay hydrated by drinking enough water or other healthy liquids/drinks.
Avoid chemical made colors
The colors made with chemicals are very harmful to your skin that will damage your skin and hair too, Therefore, use natural or organic colors available in the market. You can even use homemade colors which can be made using ingredients like turmeric, sandalwood, marigold etc.
Oil your body
Before playing Holi, it is important to oil your body. Apply oil all over your body from head to toe. Use coconut or mustard oil for best results. The oil will prevent colors from sticking to your body and you won’t have to do a lot of effort in removing them after you are done playing.
Wash your hands thoroughly before eating
It happens with everyone that Holi colors mix up in the boxes of dry fruits, sweets, and nuts that you offer to your friends, family, and guests. So, it is a must to wash your hands properly before eating anything, every time you reach for the plate. Or better use a fork or toothpick.
Use colors and Pichkari safely
You should take care while using Pichkari, especially near the eyes and face. Be careful while coloring someone. Be very careful while playing with balloons as thrown from a distance, especially from a height or a running vehicle, they can prove to be harmful.
Use sunscreen on your face as well as on your hands before playing Holi. Sunscreen protects your face from colors and will also save you from harmful rays as you will be out having fun.
Home remedies for removing colors – how to remove holi color from face
After playing Holi, removing colors is such a tough task to do. Here are some tips for cleaning the colors. Don’t scrub your skin as this may damage the skin. Use home remedies such as, make a paste of 2 tsp of flour, a little Turmeric, and a few drops of olive oil. Mixed it all properly, then scrub it and wash your face. You can also use a mild face wash. Bleaching your face will also help in removing the color to an extent. Anyways, what’s the fun of playing Holi if the color doesn’t stay there for a few more days.
