1519- Hindal Mirza, Mughal prince and the youngest son of Emperor Babu.

1856- Toru Dutt, Bengali translator, and poet from India.

1886- Bulusu Sambamurti, Indian lawyer and President of the Madras Legislative Council from 1937 to 1942.

1922- Dina Pathak, Indian actor, and director

1953- Rajiv Mehrotra, Indian writer, television producer-director, documentary filmmaker.

1957- Parminder Singh Dhull is an Indian politician of the State of Haryana, India.

1982- Kunal Deshmukh, Indian film director. Some of his films are Jannat, Tum Mile, and Shiddat.

1849- Bethune College was established as a pioneer of women’s education in India.

1906 – Hakim Abdul Majid, founder of Hamdard, started his medical dispensary under the name of Hamdard Dawakhana at Delhi.

1951 – First Asian games organized from 4th to 11th March 1951. 57 different events were held where around 500 athletes participated. The event was actually scheduled for 1950, but due to delays in preparation, they were postponed to 1951.

1961 – INS Vikrant, the First Indian aircraft carrier was commissioned. The aircraft played a very important role during the Indo-Pakistan War of 1971. India purchased the carrier in 1957 and its construction was completed in 1961. It was decommissioned in 1997 and preserved thereafter for 15 years till 2012.

1961- The Indian Navy’s first aircraft carrier was commissioned as INS Vikrant in Belfast by Vijaya Lakshmi Pandit.

National safety day is celebrated because on this day National Safety Council (NSC) of India was established.
