1911 – Vaidyanath Mishra, popularly known as Nagarjun, was a Hindi and Maithili poet. He penned a number of novels, short stories, literary biographies, and travelogues, and was known as Janakavi- the People’s Poet. Today. he is regarded as one of the most prominent protagonists of modernity in Maithili.
1969 – Mohammad Afzal Guru was a Kashmiri separatist, who was convicted for his role in the 2001 Indian Parliament attack. He received a death sentence for his involvement, which was upheld by the Indian Supreme Court. Following the rejection of a mercy petition by the President of India, he was executed on 9 February 2013.
