1934 – Chintamani Nagesa Ramachandra Rao FRS, popularly known as C. N. R. Rao, is an Indian chemist who has mainly worked in solid-state and structural chemistry. He has honorary doctorates from 60 universities from around the world and has authored around 1,600 research publications and 51 books.

1943 – Saeed Akhtar Mirza is an Indian screenwriter and director in Hindi films and television.

1956 – Harivansh Narayan Singh is an Indian journalist & politician. He is also the current Deputy Chairman of the Rajya Sabha.

1959 – Sandip K. Verma, Baroness Verma is an Indian-English politician in the UK. She is a Ministerial Champion for Tackling Violence Against Women and Girls Overseas, a role who chairs the UN Women’s national committee.

1983 – Arpit Ranka Jain is an Indian model and actor, best known for his work as Duryodhana in the TV series Mahabharat.

1997 – Avika Gor is an Indian television actress best known for portrayal of ‘Anandi’ in Balika Vadhu and ‘Roli’ in Sasural Simar Ka. She has also appeared in numerous Hindi and Telugu films as a lead actress.

1911 – Vaidyanath Mishra, popularly known as Nagarjun, was a Hindi and Maithili poet. He penned a number of novels, short stories, literary biographies, and travelogues, and was known as Janakavi- the People’s Poet. Today. he is regarded as one of the most prominent protagonists of modernity in Maithili.

1969 – Mohammad Afzal Guru was a Kashmiri separatist, who was convicted for his role in the 2001 Indian Parliament attack. He received a death sentence for his involvement, which was upheld by the Indian Supreme Court. Following the rejection of a mercy petition by the President of India, he was executed on 9 February 2013.

1857 – Maharaja Gulab Singh Jamwal was the founder of the royal Dogra dynasty. He was the first Maharaja of the princely state of Jammu and Kashmir.

1917 – Sir Dadabhai Naoroji Dordi also known as the “Grand Old Man of India” and “Unofficial Ambassador of India” was an Indian Parsi scholar, trader, and a politician.

1953 – Balijepalli Lakshmikantha Kavi was an actor, poet, screenwriter, dramatist, and freedom fighter.

1963 – Nawab Ali Haider Khan was a Bengali noble and politician in British India.

1967 – Vaman Srinivas Kudva, popularly called V. S. Kudva, was the founder director of Syndicate Bank.

2007 – Sahib Singh Verma was an Indian politician and former senior vice-president of BJP. He served as Chief Minister of Delhi and was member of the 13th Lok Sabha, Parliament of India. He also served as the Union Labour Minister of India.
