  • The Shiv Sena, in its editorial mouthpiece Saamana, has hailed the ‘historic’ Supreme Court decision judgment granting permanent commission to women officers in the Army while slamming the Centre over its refusal to treat women officers at par with male officers.

  • Delhi court allowed Karti Chidambaram, accused in Aircel-Maxis cases along with his father and former finance minister P Chidambaram, to travel abroad to attend tennis tournaments in the UK and France and attend business meetings.
  • A CRPF commando was killed while another injured in a gunbattle with Maoists in Sukma district of Chhattisgarh.
  • China’s Hubei province reported 1,693 new cases as of Tuesday, down from 1,807 the previous day and the lowest number in the province since February 11. But deaths rose by 132, up from 93 the previous day taking toll to around 2,000.
  • The UIDAI said its Hyderabad office has sent notices to 127 people for allegedly obtaining Aadhaar numbers on “false pretenses” but asserted these have nothing to do with citizenship.
