- The Supreme Court expressing concern over ‘cavalier manner’ in which high courts and trial courts award insufficient or wrong sentence in some criminal cases ruled out that courts should not lose sight of 3 tests- Crime Test, Criminal test & Comparative Proportionality test in deciding the quantum of sentence to accused.
- M Venkaiah Naidu expressed concern over poor attendance in legislatures and quality debate and came up with a 15 point reform charter for a new ‘political normal’ to enable effective functioning of parliamentary institutions.
- Reports suggest that P Chidambaram who is currently in custody of the ED is suffering from chronic Crohn’s disease and needs immediate treatment.
