Royal Challengers Bangalore Vs Mumbai Indians Preview
Royal Challengers Bangalore and Mumbai Indians will be looking to put behind them a woeful showing come March 28 when both the sides will square off against each other. It’s a match that holds massive ramifications for both the teams with either side looking to put on the first points on the board for their sides on Thursday and move ahead from the fiasco they have endured at the hands of the Chennai Superkings and Delhi Capitals.

For RCB, it is a match that can’t come sooner. A star-studded line-up, packed with some of the biggest names in international cricket was decimated for a poor 70 runs in the opening encounter of this year’s IPL by CSK in a showing that drew huge flak from the cricketing fraternity. It was an appalling display with the bat with none of the batsmen barring Parthiv Patel even managing to reach double digits, sparking widespread criticism of yet another false start by a side who have failed to live up to expectations for so long now in the IPL.
The Mumbai Indians, on the other hand, were completely taken apart by Ingram and Pant in their home stadium. Being plundered in the last 8 overs, going for 100 runs which allowed Delhi to make a mockery of their bowling unit, MI conceded 213 runs, a run chase which they were never in with wickets falling at regular intervals.
Starting slowly has always been a contentious issue for the visitors and although they were able to show immense fighting spirit in 2017 to come back from a slow start, 2018 wasn’t as kind to them. The Rohit Sharma unit know they can’t afford another calamitous start and as they travel for their first away match of the season, a win is in dire need for them,

It won’t be an easy task for MI though especially against a wounded RCB team which will be looking to reassert their position as true world beaters. AB de Villiers and Virat Kohli are not players who fail twice and with Jasprit Bumrah out of the encounter, the MI bowling unit can be left picking up the pitches if these two get behind them. Although Malinga would be in the MI playing XI after having returned from Sri Lanka’s 3-0 T20 series defeat against South Africa, the rest of the bowling attack hardly inspires confidence.
It promises to be a high scoring encounter and we expect Virat Kohli to stamp his authority on the league with a blinder of an innings. Expect this to be a high scoring encounter between two sides who are more regarded in the batting front rather than being known for having specialist bowlers.
