Top 5 Bowlers: Best Bowlers of IPL 2018
Best bowlers of IPL 2018 proved that this season of the Indian Premier League was not all about the batsmen. What made it the best season in the history of the tournament was the way bowlers struck back in any adversity to make matches competitive, winning them on their own merit. Let’s take a look at some of the best bowlers of IPL 2018.
1. Rashid Khan: 3-19
How can we start this list without the best spinner being in first place? The boy from Afghanistan proved to be a handful for batsmen throughout the season, troubling them with his guile and trickery. The same was the case against the Kolkata Knightriders as Khan ran through their ranks, winning the match for his side all alone and taking them to the final with that.
2. Lungisani Ngidi: 4-10
This match against the Kings XI Punjab stamped Chennai Superkings’ authority on the IPL. And it was none other than South Africa pace sensation Ngidi who helped announce his side on the big stage. A breathtaking spell of fast bowling saw him breathe fire on Punjab’s batting line-up, bowling an immaculate line and length to pick up 4 for only 10 runs from his 4 overs.
3. Ankit Rajpoot: 5-14
At a time when Kings XI Punjab were dominating the tournament, the merit went to no one else than their inexperienced bowling unit. And one main cog in that side was Rajpoot who proved his importance to the side against the Sunrisers Hyderabad. Picking up one of the few five wicket haul this season, Rajpoot sent half of SRH’s batsmen back in the hut on the day.
4. Umesh Yadav: 3-23
This was the year for Umesh Yadav to make a come-back to the international circuit. And he reminded everyone of his talent and class in style as he troubled batsmen match after match. His powerplay bowling was unmatched throughout the tournament with him swinging the ball at an incredibly fast pace. He picked up 3 against a strong KXIP batting unit to give the RCB one of their few victories this season.
5. Shreyas Gopal: 4-16
One of the reasons RR reached the qualifiers was their young spinner Gopal. His distinctive bowling made it next to impossible for batsman to read his line and length, falling prey to his turners time and time again. Boasting of any accessory of variety, Gopal spun the ball the wrong way against RCB to pick up 4-16.
