Playing as the host, the Blues have the upper hand because they managed to win the first leg last month with a score of 1-0. Thus, a draw was enough to get Thomas Tuchel’s troops into the top 8. However, Chelsea continued to appear aggressive since the first half began, through the two wings which were filled by Reece James and Marcos Alonso.

In the tenth minute, Alonso almost brought the host ahead.  Luckily for Atletico, the left wing’s volley was off the mark on Jan Oblak’s goal.
