The match has been exciting since the kick-off. The referee pointed to the spot after Oleksandr Zinchenko was considered handball when the game had only been running for seven minutes. After reviewing the VAR, the referee annulled his decision. The ball appears to hit Zinchenko’s shoulder.
Only four minutes later, City successfully opened the scoring through Mahrez’s goal. Kevin De Bruyne’s shot ball still hit Marquinhos and headed for Mahrez who immediately opened fire to beat Keylor Navas.
PSG continued to try to suppress the home defense despite the increasingly unfavorable aggregate score. Unfortunately, the opportunity that was obtained through Marquinhos’ header was still thwarted by the crossbar.
PSG are constantly launching attacks to catch up. However, their efforts were fruitless until the match entered the halftime break.
UCL Result Manchester City vs PSG – The Run of the Second Half
Coming back from the locker room, a similar situation in the first half was repeated. PSG is still having enough trouble to dismantle the tight Manchester City defense raised by John Stones and Ruben Dias.
Entering the 63rd minute, Mahrez scored his second goal using a fast counterattack. Phil Foden’s cross was successfully struck by Mahrez and the ball hit Navas’ goal.
Six minutes later, PSG had to play with 10 men after Angel Di Maria was shown a red card for a violent foul on Fernandinho outside the area of play. This situation made the PSG squad even more frustrated.
Foden almost increased Manchester City’s lead. Unfortunately, the shot he fired in the 77th minute still hit the post.
No additional goals were created from the two teams in the remaining matches. The 2-0 score for Manchester City’s victory was the final result of this match.
Manchester City will be waiting to see who will face them in the final of the UCL as Real Madrid or Chelsea either will face them after today’s match.
