Unknown facts about Tejas fighter plane – The Tejas is an Indian single-engine, multirole, delta-wing fighter plane developed by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) and designed by the Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA) for the Indian Air Force and Indian Navy. It replaces 1980s MiG-21 fighters and in 2003, the LCA was officially named “Tejas”. Tejas combine technologies such as fly-by-wire flight control system, static stability, and multi-mode radar.   • In 1984, the government of India started the process to build an indigenous aircraft.
  • In 1986, the government allocated Rs 575 crores funding for the program.
  • The light combat aircraft made its first flight on 4th January 2001. Then Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee named the aircraft ‘Tejas’ – which means ‘radiance’ in Sanskrit.
