Cyclone Fani Live Updates The India Meteorological Department had warned during the last week of April 2019 about the Super Cyclone Fani, pronounced as Foni, to be hitting near Puri, Odisha. The government started preparing to handle all kinds of situations including shifting people to safe places, setting up 880 cyclone centres, 12 units of National Disaster Response Force, 20 units of Odisha Disaster Rapid Action Force, and 335 fire units.
FANI centered near lat 19.8 & long 85.7 at 9.30am close to Puri, The eye of the cyclone completely moved into land by 10 am. Thus the cyclone crossed Odisha coast between 8 am to 10 am today, 3rd May 2019.
Around 157 trains were cancelled and many airports including Kolkata and Bhuvaneshwar were completely shut down. The exact effect of the Fani will be known later. The government has already announced a relief fund of more than Rs.1000 Crores.
