Then, Skipper Kohli and Rahul steadied the ship for some time. They put on a small partnership and looked to move on. Their 68 run stand allowed India to be in this contest. Rahul looked for his 2nd fifty in the tournament. But he was dismissed by Skipper Jason Holder. Just before Rahul’s fifty and India’s 100 run mark, KL Rahul was clean bowled for 48 runs. KL Rahul didn’t convert his yet another start and that was it for West Indies who made a comeback into this match. After Rahul, Vijay Shankar also was dismissed early. Vijay Shankar’s poor batting form continued the same in this game. He was out after scoring just 14 runs. Then came in Kedar Jadhav, who too didn’t give any sort of company to his captain, who batted so at the other end. After hitting a lovely drive, Kedar went to chase a ball outside off stump and edged to Shai Hope. Inconsistent Kedar was out for just 7 runs.
India was in a spot of being bothered after a decent partnership between Kohli and Rahul. India lost 3 quick wickets and that put pressure on Skipper Kohli and MS Dhoni.Kohli batted well but Dhoni struggled to time the ball. Nowadays MSD is often criticised for being slow and here too he was slow to start. It was Dhoni’s defense at one end and Kohli’s elegant stroke play at other. The Windies were much happy when Dhoni was on the strike. They were ready to give a single to Kohli and kept him at the other end. But Dhoni’s bad timing helped West Indies to be in this game. That put too much pressure on Virat Kohli. He wanted to bat throughout but on the score of 72, he was out to Windies Skipper, Holder.Kohli couldn’t keep the short ball down and he was caught by the substitute fielder DM Bravo.

MSD was lucky in this innings. He was dropped a few times and earlier Shai Hope missed an easy stumping chance. West Indies paid the price for this. As MS Dhoni was unbeaten till the end. He scored his 82nd fifty of career and his 1st world cup fifty in this edition.
