WhatsApp spyware attack -WhatsApp users need to update their WhatsApp immediately because of a suspected spyware attack through a bug that allowed hackers to hack into your phone by simply calling you. Hackers were able to install software on phones and other devices using a major vulnerability in WhatsApp. A fix for this has already been rolled out by WhatsApp and updating the App has been advised.

  • The spyware was capable of spreading through calls and texts. WhatsApp spyware attack could activate the phone’s camera, microphone and perform destructive activities.

  • According to the sources, an Israeli cyber intelligence company is said to have developed the spyware, but the company denied the alleged claim.

Android

  • Open the Google Play store
  • Tap the menu at the top left of the screen
  • Tap My Apps & Games
  • Search WhatsApp
  • If you need to update WhatsApp, you will see a green button which says ‘Update’.
  • Click to Update.
  • If your WhatsApp is already updated, you will see the button ‘Open’. This means you don’t need to take any action.
  • WhatsApp latest version on Android is 2.19.134

iOS

  • Open the App Store
  • Tap Updates at the bottom of the screen
  • If you need to update WhatsApp, you will see a green button which says ‘Update’.
  • Click to Update.
  • If your WhatsApp is already updated, you will see the button ‘Open’. This means you don’t need to take any action.
  • WhatsApp latest version on iOS is 2.19.51
